A plug adapter changes the shape of a connection; it does not make an incompatible light safe. Identify the product power type, read its rating label and match it to the destination supply before ordering or moving a lamp.
Lighting compatibility has three separate parts: the physical connection, the electrical supply and the product's internal components. A matching plug does not prove that voltage, frequency, grounding, bulb or dimmer requirements are correct. The exact product label and supplied instructions always take priority over regional summaries.
01 / Product type
First identify how the light receives power
The relevant compatibility check depends on whether the product plugs into a socket, connects to fixed wiring, uses an external power supply or contains an integrated LED driver.
Check plug type, input voltage, frequency, grounding and cable rating.
There may be no plug. Check the fixture or driver rating and local installation rules.
Read the adapter INPUT line and use only the supplied or approved output specification.
Check fixture voltage, socket type, permitted wattage and the bulb's own rating.
Never infer compatibility from a product photo
Product families can include different regional variants. Confirm the selected SKU, label, manual and supplied connection with HOZO support before purchase when the destination country differs from the storefront market.

Read INPUT, not only the plug
Look on the lamp, driver or external adapter for an input rating. Frequency is written in hertz (Hz); voltage may be a single value or a range.
INPUT: 100-240 V~ 50/60 HzThe power supply is designed for that voltage and frequency range, but the plug, grounding and approvals still need to suit the destination.
INPUT: 220-240 V~ 50 HzDo not connect directly to a 120 V supply merely because a plug adapter fits. Ask the manufacturer whether a correct regional variant exists.
OUTPUT: 24 V ⎓ 1.5 AThis describes power from the adapter to the light. Do not substitute another adapter unless polarity, voltage, current and connector are manufacturer-approved.
- Confirm whether the rating belongs to the whole luminaire, an LED driver or only a removable bulb.
- Check the symbols for alternating current (~), direct current (⎓), protective earth or Class II double insulation.
- Match the exact model number and variant; similar-looking lights may use different drivers.
- Keep the label legible for future service and support.

04 / Connection devices
Know what an adapter can and cannot do
A passive adapter changes the physical plug interface. It must be correctly rated and preserve any required earth connection, but it does not change voltage, frequency, current demand or dimming behaviour.
Voltage converter or transformer
A converter changes voltage, but suitability depends on wattage, waveform, frequency, grounding and the electronic driver. Do not select one by wattage alone.
Best solution
Prefer the correct regional product or manufacturer-approved power supply. Ask HOZO support with the exact SKU and destination country.
Do not improvise electrical conversions
Do not cut off a plug, replace a driver, alter grounding, rewire an external adapter or convert a hardwired fixture to plug-in use unless the manufacturer explicitly supports the change and a qualified professional performs the work.
05 / Light source & control
Voltage compatibility does not guarantee dimming compatibility
Match base type, physical size, rated voltage, permitted wattage and dimmability. A 120 V bulb and a 230 V bulb are not interchangeable solely because the base fits.
Check the driver input and required dimming protocol. The fixture, driver and wall control must form an approved combination.
Confirm supply, radio standard, app availability and regional service support. Do not place a smart bulb on an incompatible wall dimmer.
Use the supplied or specifically approved adapter. Output voltage, current, polarity and connector all matter.
Symptoms that require disconnection
Unplug or isolate the light and seek qualified advice if it smells hot, crackles, trips protection, shows cable damage, overheats, flickers abnormally or has been connected to an uncertain supply.

Identify the destination
Provide country and, if relevant, the actual voltage and frequency at the installation.
Provide the exact product
Send the product URL, selected size, colour, light-source option and SKU or variant.
Describe the installation
State whether it is plug-in, hardwired, replaceable-bulb or integrated LED, plus any intended dimmer or smart control.
Request written confirmation
Confirm input voltage, frequency, plug or connection, grounding class, bulb base, dimming method and included driver for that variant.
- Do not assume the storefront country automatically changes every component.
- Do not order a travel adapter until the electrical rating is confirmed.

Common compatibility questions
Can I use a European lamp in the United States with a plug adapter?
Only if the product input label explicitly includes the local 120 V / 60 Hz supply and the adapter correctly handles the plug and grounding. A 220-240 V-only lamp needs a manufacturer-approved solution or correct regional variant.
Does 100-240 V mean the lamp works everywhere?
It covers a wide voltage range, but plug shape, grounding, frequency, local approvals, bulb, driver and dimming still need verification.
Do hardwired pendant lights need a plug type?
No. They need a compatible fixture or driver rating and a locally compliant fixed-wiring installation by a qualified professional.
Can I replace the supplied LED driver with a local one?
Not without explicit manufacturer approval. Output voltage, current, dimming, polarity, safety isolation, connectors and thermal behaviour must all match.
Will a voltage converter fix dimmer incompatibility?
No. Voltage conversion does not guarantee that an LED driver will work with a particular phase-cut, 0-10 V, DALI or smart control.
